Heat wave weeks fill up. Call early in the day.
When Queens hits three days in the mid nineties, every AC that was already limping finally quits. That is when the phone does not stop. We are a two-man shop, so we do not pretend the calendar is empty. Call first thing in the morning and you have the best shot at a slot that same day or the next.
If it is after hours, request a callback and we call back when we open. Evening and Sunday appointments are available. In the meantime, shut the system off at the thermostat if the coil is iced up. Running it while frozen strains the compressor and turns a cheap repair into an expensive one.
The second opinion that saves the system.
A lot of the calls we run are second opinions. Someone got a replacement quote for four or five thousand dollars and something about it did not sit right. We open the panel, test the capacitor, check the contactor, read the pressures, and find the part that actually failed.
Sometimes the honest answer is that the system is done and replacement is the better spend. When that is true, he says so and explains the math. But a bad capacitor is a bad capacitor, and it does not need a new condenser attached to it. We would rather fix your unit today and see you again in five years than sell you something you do not need.
What the diagnosis actually covers.
Electrical first: disconnect, contactor, capacitor, and the low voltage side including the thermostat call. Then airflow: filter, blower, and return. Then the refrigerant circuit: suction and liquid pressures, superheat, and the coil condition. Condensate drain and safety switch get checked before we leave.
We work on Carrier, Bryant, Rheem, Trane, Amana, Lennox, Mitsubishi, and Daikin equipment, along with most other residential and light commercial systems. Every repair is covered by our 100% satisfaction guarantee.
